Project 1). Mural Value Walls
Project 2). Hokusai Bottle Cap Artwork
Project 3). Handbag Gardens
Project 4). Recycled Igloo Art Sculpture
Project 5). Proposals for: a Science Lab, Mine Craft Lunch Sessions, Obstacle
Course.
Work in progress:
28.10.14 - Currently 6W & 56P are constructing the recycled igloo sculpture. Students are very excited to be finally working on their COOL COLLABORATION ideas. Other project groups are starting to organise times to meet with our principal to share with innovative ideas on how we can enhance the learning environment at FWPS.
Problematic knowledge:
* Students under-estimated how many milk bottles were needed for the sculpture. Students were required to re-evaluate prototype & to ask for more donations. Currently seeking donations from local businesses.
* Playground damages - Our sculpture was damaged due to lack of knowledge of project. Students felt a bit disheartened and felt the need to set up 'security' at recess and lunch times to ensure no more damage.
* Construction issues - Students were required to resolve a variety of issues, including: size of glue sticks, placement of milk bottles, number of milk bottles to be attached together at one time, layering of the igloo, & shape of igloo itself.
Wow Moments:
* Students linking their project to curriculum outcomes.
* Students coming up with their own SOLE questions based on their own curiosity.
* Students asking if we can let the high school teachers know of this new way of learning.
* Students coming up with extremely creative & innovative solutions. Solutions that the teachers had not thought of.
* Students enjoying working with various classes (remedial, extension, parallel , and cross stage).
* The capabilities of our students. They are now more independent, more confident, highly creative and great problem solvers.
* Students feel empowered by our SOLE sessions. Students asking questions such as: ' Why is there war?' and relating SOLE to real world issues.
